Discover the history of the famous city of Lisbon which became wealthy due to African Chattel Enslavement and Colonialism. 2024 is the 140th anniversary of the partitioning of Africa among European countries in the late 19th century; a process historically known as The Scramble for Africa. The Scramble for Africa was the invasion, occupation, colonization and annexation of African territory by European countries during the period between 1881 and 1914. The Berlin Conference of 1884, which regulated European colonization and trade in Africa led to the colonialization of Angola, Mozambique, Guinea, the Cape Verde Islands off the coast of Mauritania-Senegal, and Sao Tome and Principe, islands in the Gulf of Guinea.
