Black History Studies will deliver their informative presentation and screening on ‘Patrice Lumumba: Still Alive at 101: The Vision, The Legacy’ on Friday 3 July 2026.

On 2 July 2026, Patrice Lumumba would have been 101 years of age if he had not been brutally assassinated at the age of 36. The outspoken and charismatic revolutionary was the first legally elected prime minister of the Republic of Congo after he helped the country gain its independence from Belgium in 1960.

In this presentation and screening, Black History Studies will commemorate the birthday of this late great African leader, examining his vision and legacy. This webinar firstly addresses the early history of the Congo and Zaire region. Secondly, this webinar will cover the pivotal moments in Congo’s History since 1885. Thirdly, this webinar will showcase the vision and legacy of Patrice Lumumba and its relevance today.
