Black History Studies presents ‘Honouring Our Communities: The People Who Made Black Islington’

Inspired by the Black History Month 2026 theme ‘Honouring Our Communities’, this engaging presentation celebrates the people who have helped shape Black life in Islington and beyond. From the Windrush generation and community activism to education, faith, culture and entrepreneurship, we will explore the contributions of both well-known figures and unsung community builders. Discover the stories of the teachers, carers, volunteers, activists, parents and organisers who helped our communities survive and thrive – and consider who deserves their flowers today.

This event will take place on Wednesday 7 October 2026 from 18:30 to 21:00.

The event will be held at The Black Cultural Centre Islington, 16–18 Hornsey Road, N7 7BT. Approx 5 mins walk from Holloway Road (Piccadilly Line) tube station. Free on street parking.

Food and drinks will be on sale.

Admission is FREE but donations will be welcome to support the work we do.
