Acknowledging Rock Against Racism 50th anniversary; highlighting reggae activism against racial discrimination during the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Join Colin Brown aka CeeBee Multimedia on Sunday 22 November 2026 for his latest exhibition ‘Rock Against Racism: The Reggae Story’. The exhibition acknowledges the 50th anniversary of Rock Against Racism; highlights reggae activism against discrimination during the 60s, 70s, and 80s; and highlights the protest songs of UK reggae artists and musicians.
The purpose of this exhibition is to look at three decades of struggles against racism for black people in the UK in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. It’s not exclusively a Rock Against Racism (RAR) exhibition, however it is RAR that has inspired me and I think it’s important that we don’t just consign RAR to the history books but to learn from the initiatives and the activities of all who participated. Racism is still present with us today; there are many positive lessons we can take from the RAR movement and apply them today.
I hope this exhibition will spark conversations within the Black community and beyond about today’s race issues and encourage artists and musicians to create music about the situation we face now.
