From Reparations to Restoration: Building Generational Wealth Through Financial Planning

For generations, Black communities have fought for justice, recognition and reparations for the immense wealth extracted through transatlantic enslavement, colonialism and systemic discrimination. But what would meaningful reparations look like in practice? And how do we ensure that any restored wealth creates lasting prosperity for future generations?

Join Financial Educator Charmaine Simpson for a thought-provoking and practical presentation exploring the vital connection between reparative justice and financial planning. This unique session examines how financial education can play a central role in transforming economic repair into long-term financial empowerment.

Drawing on history, economics and modern wealth-building principles, this presentation will explore why reparations are about far more than financial compensation—they are about restoring opportunity, rebuilding communities and creating generational wealth. Participants will discover how financial planning, investing, estate planning, business ownership and wealth protection can help secure a lasting legacy for individuals, families and the wider community.

Topics include:

  • The economic legacy of transatlantic enslavement and the Black wealth gap
  • Understanding reparations as a pathway to economic restoration
  • Why financial education is essential to reparative justice
  • Protecting wealth through Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and life insurance
  • Building generational wealth through investing and entrepreneurship
  • Creating a financial legacy for future generations
  • Strengthening communities through collective economic empowerment

Whether you are interested in reparations, economic justice, Black history or improving your own financial future, this presentation offers both historical insight and practical strategies to help turn the vision of repair into lasting prosperity.
