The Lion of Judah: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Emperor Haile Selassie I
2026 is the 134th Birthday Celebrations of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I and the 90th anniversary of the Ethiopian Royal family becoming resident in exile in the City of Bath. On Thursday 16 July, Black History Studies will host the screening of ‘Man of The Millennium – Emperor Haile Selassie I’
For the first time, the history of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I is extensively recorded on film, from the very piece of soil where his umbilical cord is buried to the last place he was ever seen. Man of the Millennium details the life and work of one of the world’s greatest leaders and mentors. This is a film about a King whose lineage dates back 3000 years to King Solomon of Israel and Queen Sheba of Ethiopia.
A King who gave a prophetic speech at the League of Nations and was ignored, but the one whom the world looked back to when Europe fell into World War II. Also known as Ras Tafari (The Feared Head) prior to his crowning as King of Kings, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah. The King who devised the African Union and made his famous WAR speech at the UN which urged for the equality of all human race “until the colour of a man’s skin is of no significance than the colour of his eyes, it is going to be war.” This is a film about the one and only “Man of the Millennium.”
