On Saturday 20th June 2020, Prof Lez Henry presents ‘Ah weh dem ah gwaan wid? Challenging Black-Assassination in the Media and on Tell-Lie-Vision – 2020’

A Bun Dung Everyting Lick!!

In this talk I will interrogate and challenge the relevance of established approaches to the overstanding of black life in the death and decadence of white racist societies like Britain. This means detailing how the notion of race and our negative, structural placement and inhuman treatment as the racialised ‘other’ in British mainstream representation is, especially since the global ‘pandemic’, clear for all to see. Consequently, I will use a pro-Black, Africentric perspective to interrogate how language and symbolism give meaning to everyday social arrangements, forcing us to challenge the traditional, Eurocentric criteria for self-identity, belonging and group membership in a rapidly shrinking global world. Doing so will enable us to identify the central issues that arise when placing media representation under scrutiny, whilst presenting viable anti-hegemonic counter-cultural forms, that speak to the nuanced relationship between global white supremacist thought and action and global Black misrepresentation/assassination. All that is asked is that you bring your mind and make sure it is open!

“Anything that is learned can be unlearned!”

THIS IS NOT TO BE MISSED.
